CCBER's Katja Seltmann will be teaching a one-day short course at the Ecological Society of America meeting this year. The short course, called Field to Collections, highlights insect and plant sampling methods through the eyes of taxonomists for ecologists. The agenda includes sampling methods, good data, specimen vouchering in natural history collections, and databasing.
This workshop is a collaboration between the iDigBio project and the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration. This is part of an effort by these groups to engage the ecological community in conversation about natural history collections, to learn about what collections can do to better serve the ecological community.
The location for the workshop is in Portland’s Forest park, overlooking the beautiful Willamette River, and Hoyt Arboretum. Registration is limited and it is through the ESA online registration system.
